California State Senator Stephen Padilla and Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia have introduced Senate Joint Resolution (SJR 16), which urges President Biden to use the federal Antiquities Act of 1906 to establish the Chuckwalla National Monument and to establish a National Park Service-managed national monument unit adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park.
This resolution is an important means for members of the California Legislature to publicly express their support for President Biden taking action to designate the Chuckwalla National Monument and protect lands adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park. The Senate voted to pass the resolution on June 20th. Now it’s time for the Assembly to vote on it.
