Ask Governor Schwarzenegger to support North Coast Wilderness

CWC and its partners are on the verge of another major victory in the fight to preserve California's natural heritage. The Northern California Coastal Wild Heritage Wilderness Act, sponsored by Congressman Mike Thompson, will protect some of the most spectacular lands in all of California. It's also the next step towards preserving the remaining 7 million acres of vulnerable wilderness across California.

Please make a quick phone call to Governor Schwarzenegger and let him know how important it is to you that we protect the remaining wild lands and rivers in northern California.

It is critical that we secure the Governor's support today. As the state's highest elected official, his backing would help ensure the protection of the North Coast's wild lands and rivers by showing leaders in congress how important this bill is to all Californians.

It's easy to do. Press 7 to speak to a constituent services representative. After identifying yourself, explain that you are calling to urge the Governor to support the Northern California Coastal Wild Heritage Wilderness Act, S. 738.

PHONE CALL TIPS:

• Give your name and address to the person registering your comments.
• Let them know that you are calling to ask for the Governor's support of Congressman Mike Thompson's Wilderness Bill, the Northern California Coastal Wild Heritage Wilderness Act (H.R. 1501/S. 738).
• Be sure to mention why his support is so important: As Governor of California, his backing of this legislation will show the broad support throughout the state for protecting these great areas.

POINTS TO RAISE:

• This bill will protect some of California's most spectacular areas such as the King Range, the longest stretch of undeveloped coastline in the continental United States.
• It would also protect critical areas for California's threatened steelhead trout and salmon populations.
• Throughout California there is broad support for the bill.
• I hope the Governor will consider formally supporting S. 738.
