Wilderness Profile

Just three miles off of Interstate 80, Castle Peak Potential Wilderness is among the most scenic areas in the Tahoe National Forest. Home to extraordinary old-growth red fir forests and the little Truckee River, Castle Peak provides clean drinking water to residents of Nevada County.

Mojave National Preserve Threatened By Toxic Mine

Your comments are needed TODAY to help the Mojave National Preserve!

Mega-polluter Molycorp Inc. is proposing to expand its Mountain Pass Mine adjacent to the Mojave National Preserve and operate it for another 30 years. Based on Molycorp's toxic record and poor clean-up of their pipeline spills, this is a terrible idea. Please help protect the Mojave from further toxic spills, groundwater contamination, and air pollution.

San Bernardino County is now reviewing the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for this expansion. Your comments are vital to the County making the right decision. Please help by telling San Bernardino County that the DEIS is inadequate in its assessment of potential impacts from this expansion. Comments must be received by this Friday, June 20, 2003.
